Uplifting Those in Need
In 2016, the Jackson Junior Welfare League hosted "Midnight in Paris" at the Ella Sharp Museum to benefit Sitting Tall Cracker Jack Camp, a therapeutic horseback riding camp for children and young adults with special needs. We were able to give this great organization close to $24,000! You can find Sitting Tall on facebook: @crackerjackcamp. And in 2015, in honor of JJWL’s 85th anniversary, we were excited to celebrate the era of our founders with a Speakeasy themed Gala that also raised more than $24,000! Proceeds benefit David’s Promise, an organization providing a space where adults with special needs can gather on a regular basis to make friends, learn, and contribute to the community. These adults learn new skills and apply those skills to create art and craft projects, to garden, to make music, to grow friendships and to serve others in Jackson County. In 2013 and 2014, the Jackson Junior Welfare league hosted two spectacular parties to raise funds to support education programs at area nonprofit organizations. Thanks to sponsors, donors, guests and members, these events were successful in raising over $47,000 to benefit the following organizations/programs:
The Dahlem Conservancy
JJWL was proud to partner with The Dahlem Conservancy for a great major project. With more than $25,000 in proceeds from our 2010 and 2011 annual Gala events, Dahlem was able to re-design and upgrade the existing loop trail at the Dahlem Center. The improvements assure accessibility and provide educational opportunities for persons with disabilities, families with young children, seniors, and the general population.
In addition, JJWL dedicated volunteer time to Dahlem during this major project partnership for other efforts at the Dahlem Center. For more information about The Dahlem Conservancy, visit dahlemcenter.org
